How to Cleanse or Clear Your Tarot Cards

A few days ago an unexpected package showed up at my door. The holidays were over and I didn’t remember ordering anything so I wasn’t expecting anything. The box was from one of my best friends who I have known since the 4th grade.

I opened the box to find a set of Tarot Cards and a note. I called my friend immediately to thank her. She said that she saw them and thought of me.

Though I get most of my information intuitively, I do use cards to validate the information that I get from time to time. I also use them to get information flowing, sort of like the story prompts that teachers would give in grade school to get you to start writing. A person DOES NOT need to have finely tuned Intuitive gifts in order to use tarot cards. Anybody can use them. You will want to cleanse your deck in order to get the most correct information possible.

Keep it Clean!

Everything is energy and energy gets transferred to all matter, including cards. It is important to cleanse your cards when you first get them. They have potentially been touched by the people who made them, and handled those who have transported them. They have also come in contact with the energy of anybody who touched them in a store including employees and customers. You will also want to cleanse your cards regularly as well as anytime they start to feel “stale” or the information is not coming through as clear for you or you feel like you are getting your “wires crossed’ with information.  You will also want to “clean them” if you haven’t used them in a while or if you have had a reading that felt draining.

Ways to Cleanse your Deck

Fire and Smoke: I personally like to use fire or smoke to cleanse my deck. I either light a candle or a stick of incense and hold each card one at a time over the flame or incense smoke and ask that the card(s) be cleansed. (You can also use sage.)  I then put the deck back in order, and store it in a velvet bag that I keep in a decorative box.

Fresh Air and Sunshine: Though you don’t want to try this on a windy day, you can set your cards outside and let the fresh air cleanse them and then allow the sun to recharge them.

Bury in Sea Salt: You can cleanse your cards using sea salt. (I use the same method for cleansing jewelry sometimes.) Take your deck and wrap it tight in kitchen plastic wrap or a plastic bag. You can then place your cards in an airtight container for a few days emerged in sea salt. The sea salt will draw out negative energy the same way that salt draws out moisture in food. (You can also bury your cards in sand, a sand and salt combination, as well as in herbs.) When you are ready to take out your cards, you will want to dispose of the sea salt and clean the container.

Water: Though you will want to be careful to not saturate your cards, you can use a spray bottle of water (I like to add a few drops of Palo Santo oil when I use water to cleanse items or spaces) and mist your cards. Purified water is preferred.

Crystals: You can use Crystals to cleanse your tarot deck. I prefer to place a selenite wand on top of my deck or to place my deck on a selenite plate.

Moon Bath: During a full moon, you can place your deck outside (weather permitting) or in your window sill in the light of the moon. (Many people also use this method for cleansing and recharging their crystals.)

Reiki: You can cleanse and recharge your deck by using Reiki. First, draw the power symbol Cho Ku Rei on both the palms. Spread out the cards and draw CKR on cards. CKR is a symbol that is intended to increase or expand energy. Rub your palms for 10 seconds and then pile your cards making sure you touch each and every card. Hold the pile between your palms and give Reiki with the intention to remove stagnant and negative energy. Finally, use the Sei He Ki symbol to reconnect with your cards. SHK is the symbol that brings together the “brain and the body

Pendulum: You can use a pendulum to cleanse your tarot deck. First, fan out your tarot deck facing upright. Next, swing your pendulum side to side across the entire tarot deck. While doing so, envision your pendulum clearing the negative energy and replacing it with golden positive energy. You can also use your pendulum to ask the deck if it has been cleansed all of the way using ANY of the methods that I have listed. (My pendulum is programed to go clockwise for “yes” and counter clockwise for “no” but yours may be different.)

There is no one-size-fits-all method for cleaning and clearing tarot cards. Use whatever works best for you. Click Here if you need help putting your deck back in the correct order. Feel free to drop me a line or put in the comments section what method you use or what method works best for you.

Which Angels to Work With When Opening Up

I had a reading today. My second one with Jill. I have had numerous readings from others before. My first one was probably 14 years ago. Readings don’t scare me and I truly think of them as a form of “therapy!” I am told that I am still trying to “open up” and during my reading Jill suggested that I need to start working with angels to help me with the awakening process. Angels are new to me. It’s not that I don’t believe in them, I was just raised Catholic and always prayed and talked to God and Jesus. Jill suggested that I work with the following angels and why.

Archangel Michael: He is the protector of light workers. He also helps to bring clear messages and guidance.

Archangel Raphael: He is good for healing! Jill suggested that I ask him to help heal my anxiety and stress so that it doesn’t affect me physically.

Archangel Gabriel: I should be asking him for clear and accurate guidance.

Archangel Haniel:  She’s the moon angel and a supportive guide for those who wish to develop their spiritual gifts. Jill suggested that I ask her for clear hearing, seeing, and knowing.  Haniel is all about intuition just like the moon.

Archangel Raziel:  Raziel whose name means “Secrets of the Lord” will be a big one for me, according to Jill.  He’s about clear hearing and understanding the messages you are hearing.  He also helps and supports your spiritual growth and development.

And lastly, Archangel Jeremiel:  He helps with clear visions, and can help interpret the angelic messages in our dreams. Jill suggested that I work with him to help me remember information that I may receive while sleeping – not like that happens often or very well lately, LOL!

The above list suggested by Jill for me are also the Angels that at the time of my reading, she is working with the most often. Of course, there are other Angels depending on different circumstances and needs. There is a lot on the internet about Angels. Jill suggested that I look them up and get comfortable with them. I figure with everything I have going on, it can’t hurt. I’ll try anything once.

The stories and topics that I share are as I have observed them, as I have lived them, and as they have happened to me, along my journey. They are not intended to hurt anybody and they are told as I have experienced them. I have also done my best to protect the identity of the subjects in my writings. If you find yourself reading something and suddenly question: “Is that about me?” If that is the case it probably is to some degree because there’s absolutely some kind of lesson in there for you.
If the topics or stories on my blog or in my other writings are not relatable to you, then it is not for you, at least not at this time. We are all in different places along our journeys. What resonates with some, won’t even touch on the surface for others.
